Christine Poarch spoke on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Virginia State Bar Access to Justice Conference on small firm innovations to permit broader pro bono client access.

The October 2014 issue of the VA Lawyer Weekly Magazine features Christine Poarch’s article titled, “When Federal Immigration Law is a State Issue: Special Immigrant Juveniles in Virginia.”

In the article, Christine clarifies why the special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS) is determined at the state and local level, how the SIJS cases arrive at the courthouse steps, and why it is important to refer undocumented children to be screened for eligibility of SIJS.

Christine Poarch will be presenting at the Virginia Employment Commission on October 21, 2014 in Roanoke. She will be giving an overview of the immigration system and how that system intersects with employer’s interests.

The October/November 2014 issue of the Federal Bar Association’s magazine The Federal Lawyer features Christine Poarch’s article titled “Immigration Options for Undocumented Children: Moving from Technical Solutions to Adaptive Change.”

In the article, Christine discusses the challenges of the recent influx of undocumented children, the human dimensions of the changes required to adapt, and developing long-term successful solutions in the community.

Poarch Law is pleased to announce that Christine Lockhart Poarch received the Women of Achievement Award for Law at the 12th Annual DePaul Community Resources Luncheon.

Christine Poarch will be giving a presentation at the Society for Human Resource Management on October 1, 2014 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Her presentation will cover worksite enforcement, including a broad view of compliance issues for employers.
