Please note that our staff and attorneys will be working remotely effective Tuesday, March 17 until further notice to encourage self-quarantine and social distancing as recommended by governmental agencies and scientific authorities. While certain employees may come in briefly to handle mail and immigration filings, our building will be closed to the public. We will post updates to the firm blog and on all firm social media outlets when this changes. If you cannot send in your required documents to us electronically, you are welcome to mail in your documents or drop them in our secure drop box which is located outside our back door entrance. We will be checking mail and the drop box multiple times a day.

USCIS UPDATE: As of March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has suspended routine in-person services until at least April 1 to help slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This includes any scheduled appointments, interviews, InfoPass appointments, asylum interviews and fingerprint appointments (Application Support Center). USCIS will send notices to any scheduled appointment that was affected due to the closure. USCIS will automatically reschedule asylum interviews and fingerprint appointments. Individuals who had InfoPass appointments must reschedule through the USCIS Contact Center.

EOIR UPDATE: As of March 18, the Executive Office for Immigration Review has postponed all non-detained hearings nationwide through April 10, 2020. EOIR will send out new notices of hearing to those cases affected due to closure. Detained cases will be heard as scheduled.

OFFICE UPDATE: Our office is a busy place. So our staff and attorneys are working remotely from March 17 to March 31 to encourage self-quarantine and social distancing as recommended by governmental agencies. Because we already use cloud-based technologies, we are able to easily continue our work for clients remotely. A few notes: 

• Our building will be closed through the end of March.
• Send originally signed documents, passport photos or checks by mail or drop them off in our secure box located at the back of our building. We will be checking mail and the drop box three times a day. Please utilize electronic submission of documents wherever possible (email or file upload via your case file link).
• We are still available by telephone: Call our main number (540) 387-1005 and we can transfer the call remotely.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE USCIS: A partir del 18 de marzo, los Servicios de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de EE. UU (USCIS) ha suspendido los servicios rutinarios en persona hasta el 1 de abril al mínimo para ayudar a dejar la propagación de la enfermedad coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Estos servicios incluyen las citas programadas, entrevistas, citas de InfoPass, entrevistas de asilo y citas de huellas digitales (Centro de soporte de aplicaciones). USCIS enviará avisos a cualquier cita programada que haya sido cambiado al cierre. USCIS re programará automáticamente las entrevistas de asilo y las citas de huellas digitales. Las personas que tenían citas de InfoPass deben reprogramar su cita a través del Centro de contacto de USCIS.

ACTUALIZACIÓN DE EOIR: A partir del 18 de marzo, la Oficina Ejecutiva de Revisión de Inmigración (EOIR) ha pospuesto todas las audiencias no detenidas en todo el país hasta el 10 de abril de 2020. EOIR enviará nuevas notificaciones de audiencia a los casos afectados debido al cierre. Los casos detenidos serán escuchados como fueron planificados.

Poarch Thompson Law has long maintained a customized cloud-based case management system built on a Salesforce platform. We use secure remote access to manage document exchange already. Accordingly, we are able to fully implement remote access immediately without suspending work on our clients’ behalf.
